The Transport Research Arena Conference 2016 (TRA 2016) — the most important transport research event in Europe for researchers, experts, operators, industry and policy-makers — took place in Warsaw, Poland, from 18 to 21 April 2016 with EBSF_2 leading the way for innovative bus systems.
The EBSF_2 vision and goals were presented by UITP on Monday 18 April to the European and Polish transport press, while during the session “Electromobility Deployment in Cities” Chalmers University of Technology focused on the project activities oriented to the optimization of electric and hybrid technology for urban buses. On Thursday 21 April, RATP presented at the Invited Session “EU-Funded Research Projects on Bus Systems – Creating New Generation of Buses”, the activities of the recently set up design working group which aims to address the strategic question: can we express an electric bus as a new urban object in light of the key opportunity offered by the energy transition? During the four days of the conference, EBSF_2 also displayed the ITxPT test bench on the stand of the European Commission. Built with the EBSF IT specifications, the ITxPT test bench reproduces the mode of operation of on board IT systems with associated back offices. Within EBSF_2 the test bench supports the feasibility analysis of interoperable IT systems to foster the introduction of IT standards solutions in existing fleets and multi-supplier environments.
The next Transport Research Arena conference will take place in Vienna from 16 to 18 April 2018 at Messe Wien.
