The European Bus System of the Future 2 (EBSF_2) project capitalizes on the results of the previous EBSF projectAs the former, EBSF_2 is aimed at developing a new generation of urban bus systems by means of new vehicle technologies and infrastructures in combination with operational best practices, and testing them in operating scenarios within several European bus networks. 

The distinctive factor of EBSF_2 is the consortium’s ambition to improve the image of the bus through solutions for increased efficiency of the system...


Barcelona Demonstration Event and first User Group meeting

The Barcelona Demonstration Team will hold their EBSF_2 Demonstration Event and Workshop on Wednesday 14 September, 9am to 13pm, in Barcelona.

The event will be hosted by demonstration leader IRIZAR and TMB and taking place TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona), Jaume Brossa Street, 08030 Barcelona.

The event will highlight the work by the Barcelona demonstration team, led by bus manufacturer IRIZAR, to test and validate two EBSF_2 technological solutions, in the field of intelligent energy management and thermal management. The aim of the technological solutions is to reduce the auxiliary energy consumption of an electric bus by 20% with the combined tests. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the IRIZAR demonstration bus.

The Demonstration Event will also take place in conjunction with the first EBSF_2 User Group meeting. The User Group will enlarge the assessment and validation of the EBSF_2 results through independent and invited experts.

Revolve Mobility Debate - Reinventing Urban Mobility

Within the framework of the European Mobility Week (16-22 September 2016), the Revolve Mobility Debate & Exhibition brings to light the innovative solutions that exist today to encourage citizens and key stakeholders in Europe to take action in creating a more sustainable transport environment. During the debate, Umberto Guida (UITP) will take part in the panel discussion "Innovative technologies, advancing solutions". You can learn more about and register to this event here.

The debate will be also launch the photo exhibition. The photo cubes will be displayed at the Esplanade of the European Parliament (see the map here) during the European Mobility Week (16-22 September). During October 2016, you can visit the exhibition at the Boulevard Simon Bolivar in Brussels (for directions, click here). Annual Polis Conference 2016

This year's Annual Polis Conference on "Transport innovation for sustainable cities and regions" will take place on 1 and 2 December 2016 in Rotterdam. The Polis Annual Conferences provide an opportunity for cities and regions to showcase their transport achievements to a large audience and for the wider transport community to engage with representatives of city and regional authorities on innovative transport solutions.

The EBSF_2 project will be presented on 2 December in the session 4C: PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN THE 21ST CENTURY (9:00 - 11:15) with the speech "Solutions for cleaner, innovative and attractive bus fleets: EBSF_2, ZeEUS and ELIPTIC".
